About

Rev. Kirby

I am artist based in the North East of England. I was born and brought up on Tyneside and studied Fine Art at Wimbledon and Chelsea Colleges of Art in London.

My work deals with factors which change landscapes and habitats and takes the form of drawings, objects and books. I work with historic sites and buildings and museum collections, installing pieces which draw upon obscure information and forgotten histories. Moths often feature, I’m fascinated by their beauty and mystery.

Drawing is a major part of my practice. I use natural and found substances as materials – pulverised rock, sludge and dust, the results of rusting and burning and ephemera. I work on paper and metal, I reform rusted objects to give them new life and I remake books to infuse them with new meaning.

You can find a complete CV and more examples of my work on the Axis Artists website.
